Some where in France 9/6/16

My dear Son
I am sending this pretty postcard to you and I hope you get it all right. I sent you a postcard for your birthday I was a long time sending it but Sonie you must remember I have never been in a town since I left you and your Mother in Wellington but I have past through many a big town and I never had a chance to get a birthday card for you but Sonie better late than never. I hope you like this postcard for it is the best I could get for you and I will send you some more next time I write and I hope you won’t forget your old dad.

... Boy I do hope you are a good boy to your [dear?] Mother. Look after her [Sonie?] for [daddy?] and don’t forget that song that they sang that night you remember the one [?] it started like this. Goodbye [?] your dear Mum knew the one you ask her she will tell you but look here Sonie, for she will need all the help that you can give her so do the best you can for her and you will please your old dad now dear Boy I am going to say good bye, god bless you dear old [?] I remain your
